The Girl Behind the Brand

So I guess a lot of you are wondering where the name ManEater came from. No I don't eat men and believe it or not I don't hate them either. I just hate fuckboys. And I hate people that try and discourage you from being you.

I moved to Los Angeles about a year and a half ago with 500 dollars in my pocket and the dream of creating ManEater. I created the idea for ManEater while attending Mississippi State on a full ride volleyball scholarship. I quit volleyball after 2 years because I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I had this burning desire to do something in fashion, and that was creating ManEater. I didn't go to school for fashion. I just knew I had an extreme passion for it and had been doing fashion illustrations in a spiral notebook since the 6th grade, which I didn't start to take seriously until a great friend of mine gifted me with a real illustration book. I took up internships; one at New York fashion week for a production company, one in a designer showroom in Los Angeles, and the last one was for a designer in LA. I believe those experiences gave me the push I needed to get to the point I'm at today. And the extreme hunger and need I feel to be successful and self-made. I wouldn't have ManEater if it wasn't for the particular taste in men I had in college or the fact that I watched plenty of girls get mistreated and I couldn't stand the narrow viewpoints of the men mistreating them. From the man who got engaged behind my back, the guy with the sugar momma, or the double-standard cheaters, and rumors; which are all figments of my past now. I wouldn't have this great knowledge on what women are put through by men who think they can treat us like we're objects.

I created ManEater because obviously I love clothes. But I love women and I want to try and help prevent any girl from ever feeling the way I have felt about myself in the past because of what a man said about me. There is a great quote by Eleanor Roosevelt that goes "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." Never allow someone to make you feel bad about yourself because they're to close minded to understand who you are. There will be plenty of people in this world who refuse to see how beautiful you are just because you're doing something that they wouldn't necessarily do. ManEater's are women who stand up for themselves and allow no one to come in between them and their dreams. ManEater's are a force to be reckoned with. And this is just the beginning.
